Optical Engineer (E)

Job Description

Optical Engineers are core to KLA’s technology, responsible for designing and specifying optical components and modules, calibrating and testing prototype optical systems, and integrating prototype systems onto semiconductor tools for system function testing and validation.

Requirements

• Understanding of optics theory, especially illumination, imaging, and microscope systems
• Experience with optical design software such as CodeV, Zemax, or Lighttools
• Optical bench, subsystem, or system assembly experience
• Ability to measure, troubleshoot, test, process, and communicate data, images, signals, and readings
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally
• Results-driven with proven ability to perform effectively in a demanding environment
• Ability to work in a multi-discipline and multi-culture global organization

Responsibilities

• Design and specify optical components and modules
• Calibrate, test, and troubleshoot prototype optical systems
• Assemble and align tabletop optical components
• Develop operational methods sheets and assembly procedures
• Integrate prototype systems onto semiconductor tools for testing and validation
• Determine test methods and procedures for technical de-risking
• Evaluate design alternatives and report results to guide decisions
• Follow a design process with reviews, procurement, and testing
