Staff, Fire Protection Engineer

Job Description

Rivian is seeking a highly skilled and innovative Staff Fire Protection Engineer to join their team and play a pivotal role in ensuring safety and compliance in electric vehicle manufacturing operations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
• 6+ years of experience in fire protection engineering in industrial or manufacturing environments
• Strong knowledge of fire protection codes, standards, and regulations
• Experience with fire suppression systems, fire detection and alarm systems, smoke control, and emergency response planning

Responsibilities

• Direct the design and implementation of fire protection systems
• Assess, design, and implement fire protection measures for hazardous chemical storage and use areas
• Work closely with various teams to integrate fire protection systems into facilities
• Stay up-to-date with fire safety codes and standards
• Develop and maintain positive relationships with local Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ)
• Conduct fire risk assessments and hazard analysis
• Oversee the installation, testing, and maintenance of fire protection systems
• Support investigations into fire-related incidents
• Drive flexibility, innovation, and continuous improvement in fire protection
