Battery Cell Test Engineer II

Job Description

Rivian is seeking an engineer to execute lithium-ion battery cell tests and contribute to the development of electric vehicles.

Requirements

• MS degree in an engineering discipline with experience in testing lithium-ion battery cells/packs
• Good understanding of cell performance metrics and electrochemical processes in lithium-ion chemistries
• Experience in python and SQL database scripting
• Excellent attention to detail, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
• Passionate about research/work in lithium-ion batteries, especially for EV applications
• Excellent communication and presentation skills

Responsibilities

• Execute lithium-ion battery cell tests including electrical, mechanical, and electrochemical testing
• Define SOP, prioritize tests, track and communicate test status
• Write test scripts and set up programs to run tests automatically
• Collaborate with data engineers for data processing and report generation
• Analyze and present test results, support cross-functional teams
• Contribute to automating the testing process
• Work closely with test engineers and technicians, plan and execute priorities
• Develop and implement lab KPIs, design test fixtures, collaborate with equipment vendors
• Maintain lab space and equipment, perform equipment calibration and troubleshooting
