Senior Motor Engineers

Job Description

The Senior Motor Engineer position in Brookfield, WI involves leading the design, optimization, and testing of electric motors for high complexity projects at Milwaukee Tool.

Requirements

• Master's or equivalent degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field with 2 years of relevant design experience; OR Bachelor's or equivalent degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field with 5 years of relevant design experience
• Experience in computer-aided design (Unigraphics (NX8.5), SolidWorks, NX, or AutoCad)
• Experience with Brushless DC Motors operation, simulation, design, testing, debugging, data acquisition, and analysis
• Knowledge of Brushed PMDC, Universal, Induction, and Switched Reluctance motors and theory
• Understanding of motor controls, battery technology, vibration, and sound analysis
• Ability to travel up to 10% domestically and internationally

Responsibilities

• Simulating, designing, optimizing, prototyping, testing, and troubleshooting electric motors for high complexity projects
• Establishing and driving test regimens for components and assemblies within scope of projects
• Conducting hands-on experiments, performing simulations, and analyzing data
• Performing root cause failure analysis of motor test failures
• Driving supplier relationships to develop part/product specifications
• Providing effective communications across the organization on progress and risks/opportunities
• Creating clean-sheet motor designs of various types of motors
• Providing technical leadership, mentoring junior Engineers, and facilitating technical meetings
• Ensuring adherence to project schedules and the company's processes
• Designing and qualifying new solutions to regulatory standards
