Lab Engineer, Kuiper

Job Description

Project Kuiper is an ambitious initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities worldwide. The Software Health Automation team at Kuiper is responsible for all production software and lab management.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or comparable industry experience
• 2+ years of non-internship professional IT experience in test lab support or operational hardware support
• 2+ years experience organizing and maintaining stock of critical test equipment, prototype devices, and third-party devices
• 2+ years experience in project management skills including resource planning, managing schedules, and reporting project status
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Highly organized, autonomous, detail-oriented, and willing to learn new skills

Responsibilities

• Design, set up, and maintain test fixtures to verify software on real hardware
• Troubleshoot hardware, software, and networking issues
• Contribute to engineering efforts from design to implementation
• Drive adoption of best practices in testbed maintainability
• Manage equipment stock, procure lab equipment
• Participate in lab on-call rotation to ensure uptime meets SLA
• Provide lab services to remote workers
• Provide technical support to customers using the lab
