Sr. System Development Engineer, Storage Systems Team

Job Description

The AWS Hardware Engineering team is seeking talented individuals to join a diverse team working on designing, planning, delivering, and operating all AWS global infrastructure to ensure continuous access to innovation for customers.

Requirements

• Leadership experience in developing automation software across multiple teams and organizations
• Experience designing and building system-level software at scale with a focus on durability, availability, security, and diagnostics
• Strong understanding of OS internals, particularly storage subsystems in a Linux-based environment
• Experience in building and troubleshooting device drivers for Linux on ARM and x86 architectures
• Hands-on development of automation software in modern languages like Python, Ruby, Java, etc.

Responsibilities

• Lead the HWEng System Development effort to define and build software and enabling tools according to best practices
• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure new storage hardware meets the needs of EC2, EBS, and S3 teams
• Identify and address potential problems with on-boarding new storage servers into the ecosystem
• Build, manage, and deploy pipelines for rapid deployment of new code changes
• Develop monitoring tools and metrics to ensure proper functioning of hardware in test and production environments
