Sr. Principal Applied Scientist position at Amazon working on cutting-edge AI technologies for Alexa and Echo devices.

Requirements

• Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Computer Science or equivalent
• Experience in state-of-the-art machine learning and statistical modeling techniques
• Deep knowledge of Large Language Models (LLMs) and ML techniques
• Experience in algorithmic development, model training/testing, and software engineering
• Experience leading large-scale projects
• Experience building high-performance, highly-available, and scalable distributed systems
• Hands-on experience as a Principal-level Scientist or Engineer
• Experience building customer and developer-facing products and services
• Knowledge and experience with web-scale services, distributed systems, and online learning systems
• Excellent written and verbal technical communication skills
• Ability to present complex technical information clearly and concisely
• PhD or Master's degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, or related field
• Expertise in Generative AI, Large Language Models (LLMs), deep learning frameworks, and NLP techniques
• Experience delivering AI/ML products at scale in large online systems
• Deep understanding of system design, distributed systems, cloud platforms, and data pipelines
• Strong leadership and mentoring skills
• Passion for developing talent
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal process and maximum productivity

Responsibilities

• Drive Alexa-wide system architecture and design
• Lead demanding and cross-team projects
• Build and deploy scalable Multi-modal understanding & generation and personalization services
• Push the boundaries of machine intelligence
• Combine cutting-edge AI techniques to simplify conversational and multi-modal scenarios
• Collaborate with product, engineering, and business stakeholders
• Guide the design and architecture of scalable AI-powered systems
• Stay at the forefront of AI research
• Foster a culture of innovation and collaboration
• Ensure responsible AI practices are embedded in all stages of development
