Job Description

The Sr. Optical Network Development Engineer position at AWS involves building, deploying, and scaling networks to support AWS and other business units across global data centers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical / Electrical / Electronic Engineering, Physics, Computer Engineering or equivalent worked experience.
  • 8+ years of work experience on thermal design for hardware systems and components.
  • 8+ years of experience with thermal simulation and test validation.
  • 4+ years of experience developing and automating validation testbeds for thermal validation and characterization.
  • 4+ years of data analysis and presenting data-driven deep dives on thermal design.
  • 2+ years of experience working on manufacturing processes and qualifications.
  • 1+ years of professional development experience with Python or a similar scripting language for automation scripting.

Responsibilities

  • Perform high-quality network and system operations, deployments, scaling, technology refresh, best practices application, optimization, and internal/external customer interactions.
  • Collaborate with vendors/manufacturers on evaluating new hardware and software features from a thermal design perspective.
  • Define and develop thermal and mechanical test plans for validating optical modules.
  • Automate thermal, mechanical, and optical test plans to aid in product development and qualification.
  • Identify operational issues, improve quality, and RMA process in collaboration with the network operations team.
