Staff Engineer, Autonomy Developer Productivity & Infrastructure (Autonomy)

Job Description

Rivian is seeking a highly motivated and innovative engineer to join their Autonomy team to build and optimize foundational systems for self-driving vehicles.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
• Proven experience in developer productivity, software infrastructure, or DevOps role
• Strong programming proficiency in Python, C++, Rust, Go, or Java
• Deep knowledge of build systems and tools like Bazel, CMake, Meson
• Experience with CI/CD principles and tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, or ArgoCD
• Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies like Docker, Kubernetes
• Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform, Ansible
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex distributed systems
• Strong communication and collaboration skills

Responsibilities

• Drive the design and implementation of advanced automation and processes to accelerate engineering velocity
• Act as the primary technical liaison between specialized Autonomy groups and central vehicle software DevOps teams
• Advocate for engineers, improve developer experience, and ensure system reliability
• Champion and use AI tools to rethink and enhance developer workflows and CI/CD pipelines
• Partner with product and research engineers to lay technical foundations for new self-driving capabilities
