Staff Software Engineer, Middleware, Autonomy

Job Description

Rivian is seeking a Software Engineer specializing in safety-critical self-driving middleware to design, develop, and deploy software for essential self-driving features.

Requirements

• B.S. / M.S. in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
• 8+ years of experience developing production-grade software from requirements gathering
• Strong C++ programming skills
• Experience in automotive or robotics software development
• Experience with x86_64 and ARM architectures
• Experience in software development for heterogeneous systems
• Experience with hardware accelerators like GPU, ISP, Encoder, etc.
• Familiarity with scripting languages like Bash, Lua, Python
• Experience with middleware, abstraction layers, and perception applications
• Experience with OpenCV, OpenVX, or relevant acceleration frameworks
• Experience in software tooling for code auto-generation and test automation
• Team player with excellent communication skills

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy software within hardware abstraction middleware for safety-critical self-driving features
• Develop software for Linux and real-time operating systems
• Develop software for distributed and heterogeneous systems
• Develop necessary tools to support development, debugging, and testing
• Assist in software-design and code reviews
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams for middleware integration
