Sr. Dimensional Engineer, Battery

Job Description

Rivian is seeking an Engineering professional to develop and assess design tolerances for key battery components and sub-assemblies.

Requirements

• BS or higher in engineering
• Proficiency in CAD & GD&T, preferably CATIA
• Expertise in 1D and 3D tolerance stack analysis, 3DCS preferred
• Proficiency in statistical analysis software such as JMP or Minitab
• Strong problem-solving skills with a first principles approach
• Ability to make data-driven decisions and demonstrate analytical skills
• Experience with statistical qualification of machinery, equipment, and gages
• Excellent interpersonal skills for cross-functional collaboration
• Energy and curiosity to seek solutions and represent a world-class brand
• Willingness to travel during peak demand periods

Responsibilities

• Develop and assess the feasibility of design tolerances for key battery components and sub-assemblies
• Document assembly datum schemes for robust component fabrication and assembly manufacture
• Pilot metrology equipment to measure and report on parts and equipment in development builds
• Perform part and assembly tolerance stack analysis against internal Cpk/Ppk targets
• Track and report dimensional health metrics such as completion, Cpk, and other dimensional KPIs
• Develop key product maturation tools for quality loops during new product introduction
• Define, procure, and commission metrology tools for accurate characterization of product specifications
• Oversee measurement routines for acceptance into the Rivian Measurement Reporting System
• Develop reports and collaborate with Factory Data Operations to visualize metrology data
• Root cause launch issues using data-driven methods
• Lead dimensional verifications at each development build phase
• Participate in Virtual and production Build events
