Staff Software Engineer, Calibration & Pose, Autonomy

Job Description

Rivian is seeking a Software Engineer to work on calibration algorithms for their Autonomy sensor suite, focusing on estimating calibration parameters for various sensors using nonlinear optimization techniques.

Requirements

• M.S. or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace, or a related field
• 5+ years of robotics, AV (Autonomous Vehicle), or other real-time, safety-critical experience
• Strong C/C++ programming skills and experience
• Experience with SLAM/Factor Graphs, Sensor calibration, Sensor fusion, Stochastic estimation/Kalman filtering, Autonomous Vehicles/ADAS
• Experience with non-linear optimization, batch estimation, and ground truth algorithms
• Embedded software development experience
• Software development for safety-critical systems (ISO 26262)

Responsibilities

• Develop and write custom calibration algorithms for Rivian's Autonomy sensor suite
• Algorithm development for estimating extrinsic and intrinsic calibration parameters
• Implement algorithms in C++ using good software development practices
• Integrate algorithms into the autonomous vehicle architecture for real-time onboard calibration
• Provide technical leadership for small teams involved in calibration activities
