Sr. Staff Functional Safety Engineer

Job Description

Rivian is seeking a Sr. Staff Functional Safety Engineer to work in the Electric Power Conversion group, responsible for safety analysis and development for high voltage systems and power electronics components.

Requirements

• MS or BS degree or PhD in Electrical, Embedded or Software Engineering
• 5+ Years of experience developing embedded software and controls with a functional safety engineering background in ISO 26262
• Knowledge of communication protocols such as CAN, SPI, and LIN
• Experience with requirements management tools, issue tracking tools, and SW version control tools
• Experience with C programming and model-based design using Simulink
• Experience/proficiency with embedded debugging tools and communication tools
• Ability to work with resilience, zooming out, and out of the box thinking

Responsibilities

• Perform software safety analysis of embedded software
• Develop software safety concepts, requirements, and architecture
• Develop safety measures in application and platform software
• Develop traceability between software, technical safety requirements, and test cases
• Support software test team in executing test cases and troubleshooting
• Support vehicle functional safety team in development of technical safety requirements
• Support defining programming and coding guidelines and tool classification and qualification
