Staff CAE Engineer - Chassis & Body

Job Description

The position involves using CAE tools to drive solutions for Body Structure & Chassis system components at Rivian in Irvine, CA.

Requirements

• BS in Engineering with 12+ years of progressively responsible Automotive CAE experience or MS in Engineering with 8+ years of relevant experience
• Expertise in automotive durability simulations with ABAQUS, LS-DYNA, Optistruct/ NASTRAN, and nCode
• Trustworthy & adventurous technical leadership
• Ability to communicate clearly to a broad audience through verbal and written methods
• Passion and self-motivation for continuous improvement of capabilities & performance
• Open mindset to anticipate challenges and expertise with problem-solving
• Deep understanding of materials basics and weld representation techniques

Responsibilities

• Lead subsystem level Durability CAE analysis of Body Structures & Chassis subsystems
• Develop and execute analysis plans to optimize various subsystems
• Lead multiple concurrent CAE-intensive projects with cross-functional teams
• Capture welds, connections, hard point definitions, and boundary conditions
• Utilize advanced fatigue prediction techniques and conduct root cause analysis of field failures
• Develop new analytical methods and virtual validation procedures
• Proactively develop, improve, and maintain documentation for Best Practices and Technical Specifications
