Sr. Mechanical Engineer, Suspension

Job Description

Rivian is seeking a Chassis Design Engineer to work on product development of suspension components for their Electric Adventure vehicles.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Automotive or Mechanical Engineering
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a chassis design and/or development role at an OEM
• Familiarity with DFMEA/DVPR and CAD software (ideally CATIA V6)
• Strong knowledge of GD&T, Material Selection, Design Decision Matrices, Root Cause Analysis, and Manufacturing methods for suspension components
• Solid fundamental knowledge of chassis design, vehicle dynamics, and suspension alignment
• Self-motivated and able to work in a fast-paced team environment
• Excellent communication skills and ability to interact effectively with teammates and suppliers

Responsibilities

• System and Component Design, Supplier Interface, Program Implementation, and Engineering deliverables sign off for suspension components
• Work closely with Attributes teams to ensure suspension components meet all requirements and homologation standards
• Create and develop engineering specification packages, manage design verification requirements, and release suspension component documentation
• Develop collaborative relationships with suppliers and manage project timelines
• Contribute towards design compromise discussions and balance multiple projects and responsibilities
• Define validation procedures and support testing and production engineering activities
