Sr. Mechanical Engineer, Mechanisms

Job Description

Rivian is seeking an experienced engineer to work on the design and development of Side Closure Mechanisms for their Electric Adventure Vehicles.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in an engineering discipline (Master’s degree and significant experience is a plus)
• 3+ years’ experience in automotive closures development or equivalent industry experience
• Understanding of product requirements and closures features
• Strong understanding of the 1st principle physics of a closures system
• Ability to self-direct and manage program changes
• CAD design experience for closures systems
• Knowledge of automotive design and development process
• Good interpersonal and communication skills
• Willingness to travel as required throughout product development

Responsibilities

• Lead collaborative development of Closure's Mechanisms
• Responsible for component release for closure's components and systems throughout program lifecycle
• Manage cost and weight for closure's components and systems
• Develop and manage system information through the PLM environment
• Be a champion of 1st principles design methodology
• Engage in debate and represent the closures department
• Mentor and help develop other less experienced engineers
• Coordinate supplier meetings and resolve design issues
• Drive smooth Product Implementation supporting Manufacturing Engineering
