Sr. Battery Test and Validation Data Engineer

Job Description

Rivian is seeking a Sr. Data Engineer to support the Battery Test and Validation team by developing and improving data engineering pipelines and reporting tools.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s, master's, Or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or another quantitative field
• 3-5 years of experience building production data pipelines, manipulating data sets, building models, and developing effective visualizations
• Prior experience with design, testing, and analysis of batteries, battery pack test plans, energy storage systems, battery management systems, and electric vehicles
• Experience with creating factory production or continuous testing processes
• Knowledge of advanced statistical techniques and concepts and experience with applications
• Experience with at least one major cloud-based computing service provider, preferably AWS

Responsibilities

• Maintain and identify opportunities to improve existing data pipelines used to monitor day-to-day battery testing operations and planning
• Integrate new metrics and data visualizations into reporting streams to improve their effectiveness and ability to distill complex data into actionable insights
• Determine, implement, and communicate appropriate KPIs to drive operational improvements
• Build reliable, fast, and dynamic data tools and pipelines necessary to systematically capture, democratize access to, and evaluate new data sources
• Run experiments to evaluate the feasibility of improvements to existing data systems
• Develop custom data models and algorithms to apply to data sets
• Mine and analyze data from T&V databases to drive optimization and improvement of product development
• Develop process improvements to improve the efficiency of staging and sequencing a wide variety of battery tests
• Proactively collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders within the Battery Product Development organization to source and prioritize future high value-add data engineering and data science opportunities
