Senior Principal Engineer, Last Mile Delivery & Technology

Job Description

Amazon is looking for several Senior Principal Engineers to develop the technology roadmap for the Last Mile Delivery & Technology team, focusing on efficient and accurate representation of the world to help drivers navigate routes safely.

Requirements

• 15+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
• Experience with object-oriented design, data structures, and algorithms
• Experience owning tech strategy, end to end delivery, and partnering with senior leadership
• Proven ability to provide technical and strategic oversight for a high-performing global team of hundreds of engineers
• 10+ years of mentoring and growing engineers
• 20+ years of deep hands-on technical expertise in building complex distributed systems
• Desire and ability to inspire and influence at all levels, from engineering graduates, to VPs, SVPs, and CTOs
• Published research or patents in relevant technical areas
• Master's or PhD preferred

• Functionally decompose complex problems into simple, straight-forward solutions
• Fully and completely understand system inter-dependencies and limitations
• Possess expert knowledge in performance, scalability, enterprise system architecture, and engineering best practices
• Assist in the career development of others, actively mentoring individuals and the community on advanced technical issues and helping managers guide the career growth of their team members
• Balance technical leadership and savvy with strong business judgment to make the right decisions about technology choices
• Exert technical influence over multiple teams, increasing their productivity and effectiveness by sharing your deep knowledge and experience
