Sr Optical Test Engineer, Project Kuiper

Job Description

Project Kuiper, Amazon's low Earth orbit satellite broadband network, is seeking a Sr Optical Test Engineer to lead manufacturing and test development for key modules on next-generation spacecraft.

Requirements

• Degree in Optical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Optics/Optical Sciences, or related field
• 5+ years experience in developing functional specifications, design verification plans, and functional test procedures
• Experience with opto-mechanical systems, optical bonding, fiber optic assembly, laser systems fabrication, optical metrology, and mechatronic systems
• Experience in new product introduction and building/operating production systems or test framework with modern languages
• Experienced in modelling software packages like LightTools, Zemax, CODE V, FRED, TracePro, SPEOS, etc.

Responsibilities

• Conceptualize, design, develop, and improve test solutions and test-setup in collaboration with a team of manufacturing engineers
• Serve as the primary technical interface to the development team, participating in design reviews and new product development activities
• Support operations team by solving technical issues, containing quality problems, and owning the capacity increase roadmap for production
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, mentor other engineers, and ensure common team execution to technical vision
