Job Description

The Propulsion Engineering Manager will lead the mechanical design team for Project Kuiper's satellite propulsion system.

Requirements

  • Bachelor degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Physics or a related field
  • 3+ years experience managing engineering teams developing spacecraft flight hardware

Responsibilities

  • Direct mechanical design and integration of spacecraft propulsion systems
  • Manage Propulsion design change requests and execution according to a Propulsion design roadmap
  • Coordinate with manufacture and test teams to prioritize and execute development, qualification test programs, as well as production verification activities for design changes
  • Lead manufacturing support activities such as non-conformance investigations, and strategic efforts to deliver a design supporting ambitious production rate targets
  • Drive root cause analysis and corrective actions for technical issues
  • Coordinate with Propulsion teams on test & manufacturing fixture design
  • Work effectively with the satellite manufacturing team, and supply chain to coordinate rolling and block design changes of the Propulsion System
  • Communicate to Project Kuiper change control boards to justify significant design changes, and recommend solutions to complex technical problems
  • Coordinate with partner teams for detailed engineering analysis
  • Own the review and release of propulsion engineering drawings
