Propulsion Mechanical Engineer, Kuiper Guidance Navigation and Control & Propulsion

Job Description

Project Kuiper is seeking a Mechanical Engineer with experience in mechanical design of spacecraft components to join the propulsion team for an exciting project in spacecraft electric propulsion.

Requirements

• 4+ years of working in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience
• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent

Responsibilities

• Mechanical design of propulsion subsystem, sub-systems and test-fixtures
• Collaborating with the propulsion team to deliver low-mass and low-cost designs optimized for manufacturability in volume
• Generate detailed designs and conduct/enable thermal modelling along with static, dynamic and modal structural analysis as needed
• Support integration of designs into propulsion performance models
• Tolerance analyses and verification of critical clearances for sub-system components
• Preparation and documentation of materials for design review gates
• Support and/or lead root cause and corrective action plans in result of manufacturing non-conformances
• Contribute to the propulsion system development and maturation to high volume manufacturing by generating and maintaining procedures including: part/ component acceptance tests, assembly procedures and, qualification test plans
