Mechanical Design Engineer, Data Center Design Engineering

Job Description

Amazon is seeking Mechanical Engineers to design resilient, cost-effective mechanical distribution systems and ensure world-class uptime for customers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent with 2+ years of additional qualifying experience
• 3+ years of experience in design engineering or the construction industry related to mechanical aspects
• 2+ years of experience using Revit for producing Mechanical & Plumbing engineering BIM models and construction drawings
• Experience applying local codes, International Code Council (ICC) requirements, and other Mechanical industry standards
• Professional Engineering license, NCEES Record
• Experience with design review, specification, development of design standards, and submittal review
• Ability to read and understand construction documents for all trades
• Experience related to construction of data centers, critical medical, industrial, or large-scale mechanical and power systems
• Experience with performance-based alternatives to prescriptive Mechanical design
• Advance knowledge of mechanical engineering systems
• US Citizenship required

Responsibilities

• Work with internal teams to understand user requirements
• Data center mechanical designs and collaboration with other disciplines for construction document set creation
• Creation of designs meeting quality and budgetary requirements
• Work with regional vendors, manufacturers, utilities, and local agencies for project requirements
• Review and approval of equipment submittals
• Define project scopes, provide technical support during construction phases
• Work with commissioning teams to validate installation and performance of mechanical systems
• Travel to sites for site review, work with onsite field engineers, and startup activities
• Offer creative, out-of-the-box solutions
