Software Development Engineer, EC2 Instance Networking

Job Description

The Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) VPC Dataplane team is seeking kernel/embedded C programmers to shape the future of virtualized (SDN) networking in the cloud by delivering ultra-high performance for EC2 customers.

Requirements

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
• 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture experience
• Experience programming with at least one software programming language
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
• Proficiency in design and analysis of algorithms and data structures
• Linux operating system knowledge
• In-depth knowledge of TCP/IP
• Kernel or embedded development experience
• Scripting (Ruby/Python/Rust)
• Strong knowledge of Computer Science fundamentals
• Experience developing complex software systems
• Knowledge of professional software engineering practices & best practices
• Ability to take a project from scoping requirements through actual launch
• Experience in communicating with users, technical teams, and management
• Experience mentoring junior software development engineers

Responsibilities

• Being an engineer on a small team, mentoring junior engineers, ensuring the right development practices are followed
• Leading architecture decisions, participating in designs, design review, code review, and implementation
• Maintaining current technical knowledge to support rapidly changing technology
• Communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior management to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
