Manufacturing Engineer - Environmental Test, Project Kuiper

Job Description

Project Kuiper is Amazon’s low Earth orbit satellite broadband network aiming to deliver fast, reliable internet to customers worldwide. The Manufacturing Test Engineer role involves managing environmental test equipment, rate enablement initiatives, and production support.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Manufacturing/Mechanical/Aerospace/Industrial/Electrical) or related discipline, or equivalent experience
• Experience with environmental testing equipment (vibration, thermal, vacuum)
• 3+ year experience with integrating, testing and troubleshooting mechanical and electronic systems
• 3+ year experience with Computer Aided Design tools such as Solidworks or NX/Unigraphics
• Familiarity with Low-Rate Manufacturing Environments & New Product Introduction
• Knowledge of Lean manufacturing practices & principles
• Experience with Root Cause Analysis Techniques such as Fishbone, Fault Tree, DMAIC, or related technologies/processes
• Technical writing experience, including work instructions, standard operating procedures and/or test plans
• Experience working with interdisciplinary teams to execute product design from concept to production
• Experience with the project management of technical projects

Responsibilities

• Equipment Ownership: Manage environmental test equipment configurations, maintenance, and improvement projects. Provide technical leadership during troubleshooting events.
• Process Development: Establish standardized test processes and work instructions for technicians to operate with minimal engineer supervision.
• Floor Support: Provide direct technical support to technicians during test execution, helping resolve issues in real-time.
• Rate Improvement: Analyze data to validate test procedures, identify projects to increase throughput, reduce cycle time, and improve first-pass yield.
• Automation Troubleshooting: Read and triage errors in LabView and Python code execution. Articulate failures to support teams for complex issues.
• Manufacturing Execution System Management: Define data artifacts in MES/ERP systems. Develop and manage system standards for handling test execution and non-conformances.
• Training: Develop and deliver training for technicians on equipment operation and test procedures
