Sr Opto Mechanical Engineer, Project Kuiper

Job Description

Project Kuiper is Amazon’s low Earth orbit satellite broadband network seeking a Sr Opto Mechanical Engineer to lead manufacturing and test development for a key module on next-generation spacecraft.

Requirements

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Physics, Optics/Optical Sciences, or related field
• 5+ years of experience in mechanical systems design and development
• Experience in design of opto-mechanical systems and optical alignment
• Proficiency in optical design principles and ray tracing
• Experience with GD&T, FEA, and quality detail drawing documentation

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary technical interface to the development team
• Design and analyze optical systems, including opto-mechanical mounting
• Align laser and/or optical systems to ensure product specifications are met
• Drive full documentation of mechanical design including BOM, drawings, and procedures
• Collaborate with optical and system engineering leads on opto-mechanical system design
