Opto Mechanical Engineer, Project Kuiper

Job Description

Project Kuiper is Amazon’s low Earth orbit satellite broadband network seeking an Opto Mechanical Engineer to lead manufacturing and test development for their next generation spacecraft.

Requirements

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Physics, Optics/Optical Sciences or related field
• Experience in design of opto-mechanical systems and optics mounting
• Experience in developing functional specifications, design verification plans, and functional test procedures
• 3+ years of experience in mechanical systems design and development with CAD software
• Familiarity with optical design principles and ray tracing

Responsibilities

• Design and analyze optical systems, including opto-mechanical mounting
• Align laser and optical systems, measure properties to meet product specifications
• Support opto-mechanical system design, drive full documentation of mechanical design
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams on product design from concept to production
