Software Engineer II

Job Description

The Software Engineer II role in the SONiC team at Microsoft involves solving interesting problems related to supporting new generation switches and transceiver technologies.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including C, C++, Rust, or Python OR equivalent experience
• 2+ years of experience in hardware OR system-level development experience
• 2+ years of experience in embedded systems with transceivers or optics
• Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements

Responsibilities

• Design and implement platform services for programming, monitoring, and controlling high-speed transceivers/optics
• Design and implement kernel device drivers and platform services
• Lead the cross-functional effort for validation of new switches
• Debug and analyze performance problems
• Develop unit test framework to test newly added functionality or hardware capability
• Work with network engineers to support Azure production network
