Principal Software Engineer

Job Description

Principal Software Engineer role at Microsoft focusing on architecting and building distributed services for CI/CD infrastructure used by developers across Microsoft and external customers.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.
• 4+ years experience designing and building distributed services at scale.
• Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements.

Responsibilities

• Determine user requirements for a set of scenarios in partnership with stakeholders.
• Lead identification of dependencies and development of design documents for products, applications, services, or platforms.
• Mentor others to produce extensible and maintainable code used across products.
• Drive multiple group's project plans, release plans, and work items by leveraging subject-matter expertise.
• Hold accountability as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) and mentor engineers working on-call.
• Proactively seek new knowledge and adapt to new trends and technical solutions to improve product availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance.
• Share knowledge with other engineers.
