Job Description

Microsoft's Surface Team is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to help build the next generation of devices by designing beautiful and powerful hardware with cutting-edge technologies.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field with 2+ years of technical engineering experience OR Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field with 1+ year of technical engineering experience OR equivalent experience
• Experience in mechanical design using CAD software
• Experience designing complex assemblies using various manufacturing techniques
• Experience articulating technical concepts to a broad range of stakeholders and audiences

Responsibilities

• Design mechanical parts and sub-assemblies for high volume manufacturing in laptops and tablets
• Coordinate mechanical engineering activities with suppliers and ODM partners
• Guide engineering development work to ensure mechanical subsystems remain on track for schedule and cost
• Communicate team progress to partner teams and management
• Identify and communicate key program risks and backup plans
• Document engineering learnings and share with peers for future product development
