Principal Software Engineer - RDMA Azure Data Processing Unit

Job Description

Microsoft Azure Data Processing Unit (DPU) team is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to design, develop, deploy, and support networking packet forwarding and control plane functions within Azure data centers.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in language C OR equivalent experience
• 2+ years of experience in developing networking software stack for RDMA forwarding or control plane functions
• 4+ years of experience in software design and coding of Layer 2/L3/L4 ethernet/IP networking data plane packet forwarding and control plane processing functions within a programmable NIC or network switches and routers or an architecture with hardware offload

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into technical requirements and solutions
• Drive identification of dependencies and the development of design documents for products, applications, services, or platforms
• Conduct research, stay updated with industry trends, and experiment with cutting-edge technologies to drive innovation
• Leverage subject-matter expertise of product features and partner with appropriate stakeholders to drive project plans, release plans, and work items
• Act as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) and guide other engineers in monitoring and restoring system/product/service for simple and complex problems
• Proactively seek new knowledge and adapt to new trends, technical solutions, and patterns to improve product availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance
• Provide coaching and mentorship to fellow team members
