Geotechnical Engineer, DCDE AMER Civil

Job Description

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer to join its data center design team in one of our four hubs; Austin, TX; Columbus, OH; Herndon, VA; or Seattle, WA.

Requirements

• Professional Engineering License.
• 5+ years professional experience in commercial, warehouse, and/or industrial design experience.

Responsibilities

• Analyze data collected during geotechnical investigations to identify potential geotechnical hazards.
• Provide technical guidance on geotechnical issues to project managers, contractors, and stakeholders.
• Manage external geotechnical design consultants through the Data Center design and construction process.
• Review and optimize designs for site layout, earthworks, foundations, and more.
• Coordinate with internal and external design engineers.
• Communicate design standards and create/maintain project documentation.
• Develop and maintain design standards, design prototypes, and template specifications.
• Coordinate with AWS Due Diligence and Real Estate teams.
• Create, review, and release design RFPs for various projects.
• Manage multiple fast-paced projects simultaneously.
• Lead initiatives to improve cost, quality, schedule, and consistency.
• Travel for site assessments, internal design meetings, construction review, and interfacing with authorities.
