Job Description

This entry level/early career professional, applied technology position creates and integrates electrical and electronic hardware that is essential to Cummins products. People in these positions will typically develop and validate electronic sensors, actuators, control units, harnesses, wiring practices, or control systems and associated analog and digital signals to ensure the consistent operation of Cummins' products in a variety of customer applications.

Requirements

  • College, university, or equivalent Bachelor's degree in Engineering or appropriate STEM field is required.
  • Preferred candidates would have relevant experience working in either a temporary student employment environment (intern, co-op, or other extracurricular team activities) or as an early career professional in a relevant technical discipline area.
  • Knowledge of MS Office tools is also preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Investigates electronic hardware problems, understands causal mechanisms, recommends appropriate action, owns problem resolution and documents results with guidance from more experienced team members.
  • Applies and supports the improvement of electronic hardware development processes and tools, basic problem solving techniques, familiarity with hardware development process, and requirements analysis.
  • Obtains input and collaborates with electronic suppliers and delivers prototype hardware to application engineering teams.
  • Makes decisions in the areas of hardware requirements, validation test that impact unit cost, functionality, and prototype delivery.
  • Provides independent execution of established work processes and systems, while still developing technology or product knowledge; engages with the improvement of systems and processes.
