Manufacturing Engineer, Manufacturing Development, Optimus

Job Description

Tesla is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to lead the development of innovative manufacturing processes, design automation equipment, and collaborate with various engineering teams to create industry-leading products.

Requirements

• Prior internships or full-time experience in mechanical design of machinery and manufacturing engineering or similar role
• Experience with manufacturing processes including fastening, press joining, induction heating, dispense, leak testing, soldering, wire prep, injection molding, machine vision, and part feeding
• Proficiency using 2D & 3D CAD to generate engineering drawings, manufacturing layouts
• Experience working with automation systems, robotics, PLCs, and data collection systems
• Working knowledge of data analysis, statistics, SPC
• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, similar degree, or equivalent experience

Responsibilities

• Develop and test manufacturing processes for existing and new products
• Design automated and semi-automated tooling to support process validation and prototype builds
• Provide Design for Manufacturing feedback to Product Design Engineering
• Manage the procurement, construction, and deployment of automated production equipment
• Ramp high volume manufacturing equipment to meet acceptable performance
• Identify and drive continuous improvement and cost reduction programs
• Generate and maintain machine documentations
• Use tool data sources to evaluate and track tool performance
• Ability to travel 10% of the time, both domestically and internationally
