Build Orchestration Systems Engineer

Job Description

The SWE Developer Productivity organization at Apple is looking for experienced engineers to join the Build Orchestration team to improve software development velocity and enable complex workflows for Apple's operating system engineers.

Requirements

• Experience or interest in traditional and/or distributed build systems such as Make, CMake, Bazel, Buck, etc.
• Experience with high performance strongly typed languages such as Swift, Rust, C++, Scala, or others.
• Experience with cloud orchestration systems, cloud services, and other high-performance system software.
• Experience in systems programming (e.g., operating systems, kernel development, compilers or package managers).

Responsibilities

• Bringing Apple's disparate unmanaged build orchestration instances into a centralized service using distributed backend technologies.
• Analyzing problem requirements, existing solutions, and available systems to make high-level architectural decisions.
• Collaborating with teammates to implement solutions, develop testing mechanisms, and ensure operational efficiency.
• Programming in Swift, collaborating through git pull requests, engaging with other teams, providing technical guidance, and making customer-focused product design decisions.
