Job Description

Meta is seeking an experienced eyepiece module Opto-ME to join their team working on the design and development of smart glasses and AR glasses.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Optical Engineering, or related field
  • 7+ years of experience in complex opto-mechanical system design and analysis, development, and optimization
  • In-depth understanding of mechanical design related to optical performance, precision engineering, and manufacturing process
  • Experience with CAD design tools such as NX, SolidWorks, Creo, or similar
  • Knowledge of GD&T standards, dimensional metrology, statistics, Gauge R&R, and their application to process and design controls in high volume manufacturing
  • Ability to apply analytical and problem-solving skills to analyze complex systems and identify innovative solutions
  • Working knowledge of optical principles, optical components, and industry-standard optical design and testing tools
  • Demonstrated communication and collaboration skills with cross-functional teams

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and optimize smart glasses or AR glasses eyepiece components
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration and optimal performance of the display system
  • Develop and maintain detailed design documentation including CAD models, drawings, and specifications
  • Guide mechanical simulation, structural risk assessment, and design optimization of the display system
  • Conduct design reviews, tolerance analysis, verification, and validation to ensure design meets requirements
  • Drive activities supporting product scalability in collaboration with process, manufacturing, and REL teams
  • Apply engineering expertise in opto-mechanics, precision manufacturing, metrology, and tooling design to drive vendors for design improvement
