Job Description

Microsoft AI (MAI) is seeking an experienced Principal Data Privacy Engineer to help build mission applications and platform components for personal AI, Copilot systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.
  • 4+ years experience building scalable services on top of public cloud infrastructure like Azure, AWS, or GCP. Extensive use of datastores like RDBMS, key-value stores, etc.
  • 3+ years experience collaborating with engineering, product, legal, and compliance teams to embed privacy-by-design principles and build automated scalable governance mechanisms into data infrastructure.
  • 3+ years experience building data lineage tracking, proactive alerting mechanisms monitoring, and enforcing compliance with internal standards and external regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Build tools in the areas of data security, privacy, and governance products in distributed data, cloud platform environments.
  • Work collaboratively with other Platform, infrastructure, application engineers as well as AI Researchers to build next-generation automated data governance systems.
  • Ship high-quality, well-tested, secure, and maintainable code.
  • Find a path to get things done despite roadblocks to get your work into the hands of users quickly and iteratively.
