Cell Mechanical Modeling Engineer

Job Description

Join Tesla's Cell Physics Modeling team to develop advanced physics-based models for lithium-ion cells and collaborate on new design concepts with engineering and manufacturing teams.

Requirements

• Degree in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics or equivalent experience
• Strong background in solid mechanics, finite element theory, and material constitutive models
• Experience in Finite Element model generation and test development
• Data analysis skills in Python, MATLAB, or equivalent
• Knowledge of battery cell mechanics and material characterization

Responsibilities

• Advance Tesla's cell mechanical models
• Develop material subroutines for cell models
• Propose cell test plans and validate models
• Enhance accuracy of cell models
• Contribute to automation of cell modeling workflow
• Perform mechanical tests and material characterizations
• Interface with cross-functional teams for ideal cell designs
