Systems Engineer – Gas and Vacuum System

Job Description

KLA is seeking a Systems Engineer to join the program to design and develop advanced gas recovery systems.

Requirements

• B.S. or M.S. in Physics, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in system-level engineering, preferably in gas handling, vacuum systems, or semiconductor equipment.
• Experience with control systems (SCADA) like LabView, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), Python based control systems, or other control systems (EPICS, Ignition, Tango, etc.).
• Strong hands-on skills in system assembly, testing, and troubleshooting.
• Proven ability to manage vendors and external partners.
• Experience with regulatory compliance and safety standards in industrial or laboratory environments.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
• Eagerness to learn, adapt, and take ownership of complex challenges.

Responsibilities

• Lead and contribute to the system-level design and integration of xenon recovery and vacuum systems.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including mechanical, electrical, software, and process engineering.
• Design and implement system control architectures, including software development.
• Design and implement gas handling and vacuum subsystems, including flow control, pressure regulation, and leak detection.
• Work hands-on with hardware during prototyping, testing, and system bring-up phases.
• Interface with vendors for component selection, procurement, and performance validation.
• Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory standards and safety protocols.
• Support the transition from prototype to product, including documentation, testing, and manufacturing readiness.
• Develop and maintain system-level documentation, including requirements, interface control documents, and test plans.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of engineering processes and tools.
• Travel to customer sites for initial installation and escalations. About 10% international travel.
