Quality Engineer, Body in White, Semi, Powertrain

Job Description

Tesla is seeking a Quality Engineer to support the manufacturing operations of Semi-Truck Body in White and contribute to Tesla's mission of accelerating the world towards sustainable energy.

Requirements

• Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Materials or Industrial Engineering, or equivalent experience
• Six Sigma or ASQ certification preferred
• Minimum 2 years of experience in quality engineering
• Minimum 1 year of experience with stamping and/or body in white manufacturing preferred
• Strong background in statistical methods
• Experience in applying design for quality, problem-solving methodologies, FMEA, process capability analysis, hypothesis testing, DoE, and SPC
• Proficiency in statistical software like Minitab, JMP, or similar tools
• Data mining, databases, and scripting experience preferred (e.g., MySQL, Python)
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Ability to resolve quality issues promptly in a 24x7 production environment

Responsibilities

• Accountable for quality controls in production process and incoming components
• Drive cross-functional teams to achieve targets for field reliability, scrap, and first pass yield
• Lead development of FMEAs for identifying and addressing critical risks
• Participate in design reviews to ensure product quality and reliability
• Assist in dimensional analysis, statistical tolerancing, and process capability analyses
• Design experiments to investigate and resolve quality issues
• Manage root cause & corrective actions system through tracking and validation
• Continuously improve quality control system for current and future products
