Quality Engineer, General Assembly, Semi, Powertrain

Job Description

Tesla is looking for a Quality Engineer to support the production process of Semi-Truck General Assembly and ensure the delivery of safe and reliable products in line with Tesla's mission to accelerate the world towards sustainable energy.

Requirements

• Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Materials or Industrial Engineering, or equivalent experience
• Six Sigma or ASQ certification preferred
• Minimum 2 years of experience in quality engineering
• Minimum 1 year of experience with electro-mechanical assemblies, semiconductor or high-volume manufacturing preferred
• Specific training and demonstrated success in applying design for quality, problem-solving methodologies, FMEA, process capability analysis, hypothesis testing, DoE and SPC
• Strong background and demonstrated success applying statistical methods
• Minitab, JMP or other statistical software capabilities
• Data mining, databases and scripting experience preferred (e.g. MySQL, Python)
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Ability to resolve quality issues with urgency in a 24x7 production environment

Responsibilities

• Accountable for the quality of incoming components, quality controls and assurance in production process
• Drive cross functional teams to achieve targets for field reliability, scrap and first pass yield
• Deployment of manufacturing level requirements to subsystems, assemblies & components
• Leading development of FMEAs (Design & Process) for development teams
• Participate in design reviews to assure product subsystem quality, manufacturability, reliability, etc.
• Support process capability analyses to investigate the ability of suppliers and production processes to meet defined specifications and quality standards
• Design effective experiments through DOE or other methods to support design and process teams in investigation of various alternatives to resolve quality issues
• Manage and facilitate the root cause & corrective actions system
• Continuously improve/develop a proactive quality control system to effectively address and control product quality
