Mechanical Design Engineer, Exteriors

Job Description

Mechanical Design Engineer position at Tesla focusing on designing, prototyping, validating, and launching components for current and future vehicle programs within the Exterior Engineering Team.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
• Strong understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals
• Experience managing suppliers for product development
• Experience with DFSS methodologies during the design, validation and launch of automotive programs
• Familiarity with the development of specifications, DFMEAs, DVP&R’s and other technical documents

Responsibilities

• Concept engineering and feasibility
• Packaging and layout within vehicle architecture
• Collaborating with key suppliers for DFM, MoldFlow and tooling design approvals
• Interpreting CAE simulation results and integrating recommendations into product design
• Working with plastics engineering to improve designs for optimum layout of plastic assembling and paint lines
