Staff Electrical Engineer, Power Electronics

Job Description

Tesla is seeking a skilled and motivated electrical engineer to design and develop Power Electronics converter hardware for Tesla powertrains and energy products.

Requirements

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
• 6 or more years of relevant hands-on hardware experience in design and industrialization of power converter products
• Strong understanding of power converter topologies – both theory and practical design
• Experience with high voltage power semiconductor selection
• Solid understanding of magnetics and capacitors for high voltage and high frequency power conversion
• Proficiency with basic EE tools and test automation programming
• Experience in PCB layout and EMC optimization
• Knowledge of environmental, reliability, and safety requirements for Automotive, Industrial & Residential applications
• Knowledge of basic control theory and embedded programming

Responsibilities

• Architect, design, build and industrialize power converter hardware
• Own hardware from specification to production
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, test, and manufacture power converters
• Model new power electronics topologies for superior performance
