Job Description

Tesla is seeking a highly motivated Mechanical Development Engineer to work on the cutting-edge Tesla battery cell manufacturing line, inventing, developing, and optimizing battery manufacturing processes.

Requirements

  • Degree or relevant experience in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field
  • 10+ years relevant experience in interdisciplinary/integrated engineering or 5+ years in Battery R&D and Manufacturing in a commercial lithium-ion environment
  • Deep understanding of lithium-ion battery technology, material selection, fabrication, synthesis, new battery cell design, assembly, testing, and failure mode analysis
  • Experience with Metal forming/Stamping/ dispensing applications
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet deliverable deadlines

Responsibilities

  • Drive development of new manufacturing processes for improved battery performance and cost
  • Define process and Equipment development roadmap for Cell assembly processes
  • Develop process controls for SPC and establish process related OCAPs
  • Lead product design for manufacturability, DFMEA, and sustainability
  • Plan and Execute DoEs to optimize process for manufacturability and quality
