Software Engineer, BigQuery Metadata

Job Description

Google is seeking a passionate and experienced Software Engineer to join the BigQuery Metadata team, focusing on the physical metadata layer and Iceberg Managed Tables.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience
• 2 years of experience with software development or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree in an industry setting
• 2 years of experience with developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems or networks, or experience with compute technologies, storage or hardware architecture
• Experience in Storage Systems, Databases, SQL, Data Analytics

Responsibilities

• Design and implement algorithms to automatically update the physical shape of stored data
• Design and implement tests and experiments to evaluate and monitor system performance
• Use tools and instrumentation to develop, test, and rollout features
• Coordinate with product engineers in all parts of the software stack
