Sr. Tooling Engineer, Can Stamping

Job Description

As a Tooling Engineer at Tesla, you will play a crucial role in developing and enhancing equipment for Can Stamping battery cell manufacturing processes.

Requirements

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
• 5+ years of hands-on manufacturing engineering experience
• Experience in metal stamping, forming, Tool & Die manufacturing or a related industry
• Proficiency with 3D and 2D design software
• Physical ability to stand and walk for up to 10 hours a day, lift up to 35 lbs., and interact with equipment

Responsibilities

• Drive ramp of production lines by characterizing baseline performance and capability of each system
• Analyze production with statistical software to understand manufacturing uptime, availability, and yield
• Optimize specialized equipment for high-volume can forming
• Collaborate with Controls Engineers and technicians to troubleshoot and optimize processes
• Generate and maintain documentation including machine and process specifications
