Instrumentation & Controls Engineer

Job Description

Arcadis is seeking a skilled Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Engineer with a strong background in the municipal water and wastewater industry to join their team in Southern California.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical or controls engineering or a closely related field of study.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in I&C, automation, and SCADA system design and implementation in the water/wastewater market
• EIT/PE license

Responsibilities

• Prepare technical memorandums and developing a variety of design documents such as SCADA system architectures, communications system and network designs, process and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), SCADA network diagrams, process control functional narratives, specifications, control schematics, panel layout diagrams, interconnection diagrams, and other I&C-related documentation.
• Work closely with process, mechanical, and electrical engineers assigned to the project to ensure seamless integration of control systems.
• Provide engineering services during the construction phase, including reviewing equipment and software submittals, responding to contractor requests for information (RFIs), reviewing shop drawings, and conducting field inspections to ensure the work aligns with design specifications.
• Monitor safety compliance, perform general QA/QC of completed work, and identify any deviations from the design.
• Participate in factory testing, site acceptance testing, and system startup activities. Occasional travel to client sites and other Arcadis office locations will be required as part of the job.
