Job Description

Microsoft Surface Devices team is looking for an Electrical Engineer II to focus on electrical design and technology development for next-generation Surface products.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 1+ year(s) technical engineering experience OR Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience OR equivalent experience.
  • Foundational understanding of electrical engineering fundamentals, working with printed circuit board (PCB) materials, flex design, and PCB and FPC manufacturing processes.
  • Proven experience problem-solving and debugging with a solid understanding of core engineering principles, fundamental circuit design, and analytical techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Develop Schematics and bill of materials (BOM) to meet the design requirements.
  • Create motherboard floorplan and layout in collaboration with teams including the Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, and Thermal teams.
  • Design, build, and test rapid prototypes for evaluation of new product ideas or technology concepts.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to optimize the overall system of the product from concept to completion.
  • Use simulation and lab measurement data to support design troubleshooting and propose corrective actions.
  • Work with suppliers, contractors, and engineering services to ensure the product is developed on time with high quality.
