Senior Cost Engineer - Mechanical

Job Description

Rivian is seeking a Senior Cost Engineer to join their team in Irvine, California. The role involves analyzing costs associated with components across Rivian vehicles to ensure competitiveness in the market and maintain high-quality products.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or Finance
• Minimum of 3 years of automotive or manufacturing related experience at an OEM or Tier 1 Manufacturer
• Proficiency in navigating CAD models in CATIA or similar software
• Practical knowledge of Value Analysis / Value Engineering (VAVE) techniques and financial principles
• Entrepreneurial, ambitious, independent, detail-oriented, structured thinker, goal-oriented, flexible, and resilient
• Collaborative team member with effective communication skills
• Proficiency in strategic thinking and possessing detail-oriented work habits

Responsibilities

• Provide guidance on design requirements to achieve minimum cost
• Develop should cost models for multiple vehicle commodities
• Gather data to estimate production costs considering raw materials, labor, and tooling
• Perform teardown analysis of automotive components
• Support competitive vehicle benchmarking for future model development
