Job Description

Join Apple's ASE Human Centered AI Research team as a Senior or Staff Platform Engineer to develop core evaluation frameworks and tools that enhance AI evaluation research and streamline the development process. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable solutions that bridge the gap between research and production.

Requirements

  • Practical experience building or evaluating applications powered by large language models
  • Experience designing platforms or frameworks that shorten the path from prototype to production
  • Familiarity with distributed data processing and large-scale compute for AI workloads
  • Experience with inference optimization frameworks
  • Experience with LLM orchestration frameworks
  • Contributions to or deep engagement with open-source developer tooling or ML frameworks
  • Experience mentoring other engineers and raising a team’s engineering standards
  • Demonstrated mastery in engineering robust, maintainable, and operable software systems
  • Deep expertise in Python, with excellence in designing high-quality APIs and SDKs
  • Deep experience (5+ years) in platform engineering or adjacent roles
  • Demonstrated track record of driving adoption of developer tools
  • Experience with ML development lifecycle and ML platform development
  • Understanding of standard AI stack components
  • Proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams

Responsibilities

  • Architect and build core evaluation frameworks, systems, and tools
  • Empower applied research and accelerate AI development
  • Collaborate with researchers, developers, engineers, and other users
  • Ensure solutions are easy to adopt and scalable
  • Help set engineering standards for evaluation systems across ASE
  • Mentor researchers and engineers on best practices for AI tooling
