Job Description

We are seeking a talented Controls Engineer for the 2nd shift at Cummins in Columbus, IN, focusing on enhancing system reliability, improving product quality, supporting innovation, and ensuring safety in manufacturing processes.

Requirements

College, university, or degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) or related field, or equivalent experience required.
3 years of relevant hands-on experience in controls engineering or related automation/manufacturing roles required.
Experience with Allen Bradley PLCs and RFIB Bar Code Scanners required.
Experience with Siemens (7 Step) is a big plus.
This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

Responsibilities

Assist in the design and development of control systems.
Conduct bench tests and debugging for sensors and actuators.
Alter software and equipment to meet specifications.
Assist with cost estimates and appropriation requests.
Investigate issues and propose solutions to minimize downtime.
Provide input on project plans considering environmental and personnel impacts.
Provide installation and support for PLC-based systems.
Collaborate with experienced engineers and managers to grow technical expertise.
